Monkey Menace In Chemical Manufacturing Plant - DOCX Download

rajeeviscon
I am incharge of a large hazardous chemicals manufacturing plant using several tanks, pipe lines etc. Many times Monkeys come inside the plant and jump over pipes lines and tanks damaging them severely resulting in spillage and unsafe conditions.
Any way to get rid of Monkeys without killing them or harming them?

Hi Rajeev,
Hire a Langur with caretaker to get rid of the common Rhesus monkeys. Rhesus monkeys, which aren’t scared of humans, are gripped by fear upon laying their eyes on a Langur. When monkeys creating nuisance in a locality, the Langur and its caretaker go to the problem spot. As soon as the monkeys lay eyes on the Langur, they disperse from that area, shrieking with terror.
This will helps you

Narayan

Dear Rajeev,
I have moved your post to the safety forum, so that experts can offer you guidance on dealing with this environmental concern.
Glad to see you were looking for creative options other than killing the animals.
Once you get this resolved, please consider sharing how did you make it happen.
Wish you all the best !

Dear Rajeev,

Mr. Naryan already gave a good positive comment for your query. We had a same kind of issue but with birds sitting on the windows and making nest under the sheets of PEB structure’s sometimes due to weather condition in Africa pigeons are died underneath the PEB sheets and Containerized living units after one or two days its start stinking finally we had install some type of protection (With sharp edges which will not create hazard to anyone including birds) I will upload the picture tomorrow for your better understanding. (I don’t know how to spell that technically).

Thanks Mr.Narayan for positive comment which will not affect environment as well it will not create any hazard to anyone.

I have question to you as you mentioned monkey’s easily enter the storage tank area is it all VALUES are protected (Locked with chain with proper TAGGING??). If accidently monkey’s open the values it will become a disaster.

Outside values supposed to be locked properly with proper TAG exception of emergency shut off values.

@(Cite Contribution),

Thanks for moving this thread on right spot.

Dear Sir
If I'm not mistaken I feel that there is a ban on hiring of Langurs. The same was mentioned in Times Of India. Enclosed herewith please find the attachment for your reference. Can anyone please suggest an alternative. We are also facing the same problem.

Since the solution of using langurs seems to be out, you can consider the following alternatives:
1. Though costly, fencing off the concerned out-door area with netting
2. Investigate the possibility of ultra-sound device which would emit a sound annoying to monkeys. Such devices are avvailable in the case of birds and dogs but I am not sure about monkeys.
3. Putting up life-like 3-D images of langurs and see whether the monkeys can be fooled.

Dear Rajeev,
Please try to cover your plant area with 'goat fence' type wire netting on all sides, i.e. top roof, sides and entrance.
If there are eatables and water points which attract the monkeys, must be organised.
Night resting places by the monkey herds like trees, roofs, etc to be denied to these monkeys.
On our Hindu religious sentiments, feeding monkeys by some pious people must not be allowed near your Chemical Plant.
Thereafter monkeys will automatically leave the places.

Dear Mr Ramamurthy,
Thanks for comments, can you please suggest some more details of ultra sound device as it looks most appropriate so far.
