Please help me with how to back up and restore data in the E Return Tool version 4.0 EPF. In our company, the IT Department has decided to format all the systems. Now it's my turn to format my system. I am currently using the E Return Tool, and I want to take a backup and then restore the data without any loss in the newly installed E Return Tool software after formatting my system. Can anyone help me with how to take a backup and restore data in the E Return Tool?

I believe you should have selected the location to save the EReturn Tool installation. I request you to back up the entire folder. Your data will be located under the folder called "PF Data."

Please use this link http://epfindia.gov.in <link fixed> to download the changes made in version 4.0. Go through Point No. 9; they clearly mention how to take a backup and restore the same.

Point No. 9: Backup and Restore Functionality

In the System Administration Module, a new function has been added for backing up and resetting/restoring the data for a particular year. Now you can take periodic backups through this function, and the backup file with the date will be stored in the BACKUP Folder in the C Drive. You can copy it and save it at another location.

In case the data for one complete accounting year is completed, and the returns have been generated and submitted, you can reset the data for the previous accounting year. In such cases, the data from the wage-related tables will be deleted from the database and stored in the Backup folder. In the future, if you wish to restore the data for some reason, the function allows you to restore the same. The reset data file should not be removed from the BACKUP File, but you can take a copy and also store it at any other location.

I was trying to take a data backup for the period of 2012-13 in EPF Version 4.0. However, instead of backing up the data, the information for the given period has been deleted, and now no data is showing for that specific time frame. I kindly request anyone to provide me with a solution to retrieve the lost data.

Hi, previously our school installed EPF e-return tool 3.0. Suddenly, the PC OS was corrupted, and I didn't take a backup. After installing the OS, I have now installed e-return tool 6.0. I was using lower version software on another computer. Now, I have installed e-return 6.0 on a laptop. I kindly request you to guide me step-by-step on how to transfer the data from the old computer with the lower version to the new computer with the higher version, especially uploading the details of the employees.
