Epf Registration and Subcode - Have to Take Main Code in Gurgaon or We Can Continue in Chennai?

Hi, could you please help me! We already registered our establishment in Chennai PF Office but our corporate office is in Gurgaon. Now, I have a doubt - do we have to take the main code in Gurgaon, or can we continue in Chennai? Some people are saying that because the corporate office is in Gurgaon, we have to register EPF in Gurgaon EPFO only. Kindly help me and clarify this.

You are already registered with EPFO in Chennai. I hope you are ensuring compliance with your Corporate Office in Gurgaon and any other place of work under the code assigned to you by EPFO: Chennai.

You can ensure compliance with your Corporate Office under the code provided by EPFO: Chennai. Alternatively, you can apply for and obtain a sub-code for your Corporate Office from EPFO: Gurgaon and start compliance procedures separately. You can also transfer your code number to EPFO: Gurgaon and ensure compliance there. Please note that the sub-code is issued for administrative purposes only.

I hope you have submitted Form 5A to EPFO, in which you have mentioned the details of your Corporate Office and any other place of work, branch, department, etc.

You should either continue with the same Delhi code or take a subcode of Delhi for your Corporate Office in Gurgaon. Taking a subcode is just for the convenience of both employees and employers to approach the EPFO for various matters. Now, since everything is online, there is no need to visit the PF office unless there is any inquiry (under sections 7A, 14B, 7Q, etc.), which is also very rare if you make the contributions on time. Moreover, the distance to be covered is negligible in your case. Therefore, you can register your Corporate office employees under the Delhi office registration itself.
