Hi Siddharth,
Creativity has no boundaries but flourishes best in situations and settings where 'creativity' itself holds center stage e.g. in the advertising business, fine arts, painting & music, literature, etc. Creative inputs tho have a major role to play in ensuring advancement, improvement, creation and problem solving in every sphere of life.
Against this backdrop, the scope for creativity in HR is constrained by the fact that HR functions within the scope of certain procedures and policies. The
first challenge for you to be creative in HR is to identify those areas where there is ample scope for you to incorporate/ implement creative ideas. The
second challenge is to think out of the box and come up with creative inputs for consideration. The
third challenge is to effectively implement some of the creative inputs.
I shall focus on the first challenge only and throw up a few areas for you to begin concentrating on as an HR. You can then later draw on your experience, the corporate culture, the type of industry you work in etc. to find other areas in HR where you can come up with creative inputs.
- employee engagement activities gives ample scope for creative inputs
- employee motivation also provides a huge canvas for you to come up with creative ideas
- training needs analysis could be better analyzed and innovative training programs introduced
- mentoring / buddy system can be implemented in innovative ways
- induction programs can be be made more effective through innovative implementation
- CSR and out reach programs provide opportunities for very creative HR initiatives
- cross cultural integration / team building / inter departmental bonding etc also offers scope for innovative HR initiatives.
Trust my input enables you to leverage your creativity and make a huge impact in the HR arena.
I would also invite you to go through the following Inspirational and Motivational blogs which could also trigger new thoughts/ ideas/ imaginative inputs that supplement the inputs given above
