Is It Appropriate to Display Our Company's Logo on the Ground? Seeking Your Thoughts

Veena Dhaneria
I am working with a manufacturing company in the HR department, and we are an MNC-based textile industry. One of our company employees has taken an interest and has dug out an area just near the entrance, keeping the company's logo which will be made up with grass in the soil.

Is It Right to Keep the Company's Logo on the Ground?

My point is, is it right to keep the company's logo like this? According to me, the company's name should always reach the sky; it should not be on the ground. Please suggest your comments, and if there are any compliance issues applicable?

Waiting for your fruitful reply.

Veena

I think it's more of a perception issue rather than a 'right' or 'wrong' one. I recollect seeing many large companies' logos displayed in front of the main gates this way, encircled with a fence or garden. Maybe you can suggest one thing: instead of the logo being directly at ground level, a slanted platform or ramp of reasonable height and width, with lawn grass, can be made on which the logo can be carved or made with the same grass. That would be much better to view from a distance too.

It is always nice to hear of an employee going the extra mile out of sheer pleasure. I trust the senior management will give him a big pat on the back for this initiative.

In addition to the suggestions by TS above, I would also suggest that FENG SHUI Principles are followed. While you may not be superstitious, it certainly will not do any harm! The principle in this case is to use lemongrass, which provides a pleasant scent, and that there should be an open space, at least the size of the logo, to create a flow of Chi. I am sure you and/or your employee will enjoy researching this topic anyway.

Good Luck.

Dear Veena, I agree wholeheartedly with both the opinions given above by Harsh and TS. I appreciate your sentiments: "According to me, the company's name should always reach the sky..."; however, it would be interesting to know how you intend to achieve it!

On the contrary, I appreciate that person's initiative and action: "One of our company employees has taken an interest, and he has dug out an area just near the entrance, keeping the company's logo which will be made up with grass in soil." This is perfect and an established practice!

If you go around any townships of big companies having their parks, training institutes, offices, or the corporate offices of companies with their premises, or the Central Government offices in New Delhi, you will find it. As pointed out by TS, generally, they are on landscaped ground, written with appropriate colors of plants on a slanting slope - so as to make them stand out and easy to read. Moreover, they may be barricaded/fenced for protection.

Therefore, instead of feeling aggrieved or hostile towards the person, you must recognize and appreciate his initiative!

Warm regards.
