Facing Errors in EPF Details: How Can I Correct Spelling and Joining Date Mistakes?

Issue with EPF Details

I am facing an issue with my EPF details. There is a spelling mistake in the e-passbook of my EPF and an incorrect date of joining. I need to know how I can correct these errors to avoid problems during a job change or EPF withdrawal. Our EPF is managed by an outsourced firm. Could you please suggest how I can go about resolving this issue?

You can do one thing: write on your company letterhead that your name and date of joining are incorrect. Mention the correct name and date of joining. Get it signed by your director or authorized signatory. Take all the proofs from your company, i.e., all payslips, appointment letters, etc. Go to your PF office and ask for their help. They will guide you more appropriately.

Thanks,

Regarding this issue, first, you should inform your HR department. The EPF web portal has provided a link to update the details of employees. Through this link, you can correct your details.

Hi, you just need to speak to your HR personnel as it is their job to make the changes and follow the procedure set by EPF in this regard. Note: You can't make any changes to your data with EPF on your own; only your employer can do so.

First, you should check your Form-2 (PF Declaration) to see what you wrote on it at the time of your joining. If the wrong name is written on it, you should submit your name proofs to your HR Department. They will then prepare Form-5 and submit it to your PF office for a name change along with a covering letter.

After submitting Form-5, you can check your member portal on the PF website (epfindia.com) to see if your name has been changed or not.

Thank you for your reply. Is this the Form 5 you are talking about? Please verify the attached form.

Well, you need to consult the HR department as soon as possible to correct the information. Even if the process is outsourced to a third party, your HR department can still help you correct the submitted information by requesting the third party to do so. This way, you can rectify the information and avoid any future issues regarding PF withdrawal.

I have corrected the spelling, grammar, and formatting of your text to enhance clarity and readability. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Dear Shilpi, In current practice, all employers have to fill up or update missing details like Name, DOJ, DOB, etc., through E-Seva (online). So please contact your employer (Outsource Agency) and submit an application for changes so they can directly update the missing data file that the PF department will change accordingly.

Alternatively, your employer can submit the application to the PF department separately for the same.

Thank you.
