Leave Deficit Dilemma: Should Extra Days Be Negative Balance or Unpaid Leave?

Hello Friends/Seniors,

I have a query regarding the leave balances. Ours is a small software company. We have 1.5 earned leaves per month, which amounts to 18 per year.

Leave Deficit Query

Suppose an employee wants to avail 8 days of leave, even though their balance is only 5. Now, should I show this 3-day leave deficit as negative (-3), or should I consider this as a loss of pay for 3 days?

Before taking any steps, you should cross-check the same as per your leave policies. If anything is mentioned, then proceed accordingly. If not, then I suggest considering it as LOP. It is not advisable to consider the negative leave balances.
