Why Is My Basic Salary So Low and What Does Ad-Hoc Pay Mean for My Take-Home Salary?

vibzz_01
My salary breakup for a new offer is as follows:

Basic Salary

- Annual: 15,600
- Monthly: 1,300

Ad-Hoc Pay

- Annual: 250,224
- Monthly: 20,852

Other Allowances

- PF (Annual): 31,899
- HRA (Annual): 159,494
- Conveyance (Annual): 9,600
- Child Education Allowance (Annual): 2,400
- Supplementary Allowance (Annual): 91,000

Gross Pay

- Per month: 44,000

My question is, why is my basic salary so low? Is there any reason for that? Also, what is ad-hoc pay? How much of it is taxable? And what will be my in-hand salary per month?

Can you scan and send your offer letter so that we can also see it and try to explain?

The calculation of salary seems to be a little confusing. Please clarify the ad hoc payment being paid now. Will this be added later to your Basic? If so, then it is okay. Regarding the rest, the calculation of PF is made at 12% of Basic + ad hoc. Normally, the company needs to pay basic as 40-50% of the gross salary. You should clarify this with their HR department.

Thank you,

Kindly inform me about your position. Normally, this does not happen, but in your case, it appears to be surprising because in Maharashtra, the state government and the labor department have declared a specific amount for Basic and DA. Typically, 60 to 70% of the gross amount is allocated to Basic plus DA, with the remaining balance distributed among various allowances.

Yes, that is why I am also confused. I have seen many salary structures, and this one is unique. My designation is Sales Trainee (Assistant Manager).

I think you are a new joiner. Still, they have not decided on your basic and ad hoc meaning. Ad hoc means an immediate purpose, and I need to know how many months you have completed.

Thanks and regards,
Mithran
