Legal Restrictions on Night Shifts for Women and Child Laborers

As per the Factory Act 1948, women workers and child laborers are not allowed to work from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. If any employer employs women workers or child laborers during these prohibited hours, the employer will be liable for offenses.

Thank you.

You will need approval from the factory inspector or labor commissioner to employ women in the night shift. You must prove that they are secure and that pick-up and drop-off facilities are provided to residences. Furthermore, I believe the decision to work the night shift has to be voluntary and cannot be mandatory.

First, meet with your factory inspector and discuss his views.
