Facing Unfair Penalties and Late Salaries in Our NGO: How Can We Support Our Team?

manikyam.2013
Dear All, I am working in a reputed NGO in Zaheerabad, Medak district. We have a total of 40-50 staff members. Every simple error is treated as a penalty by our director. Additionally, salaries are released after 1 or 2 months with a 10-50% penalty for some staff members. Anybody who questions the reasons for not working is warned of potential harassment and may face dismissal. There are no defined rules, no holidays, just constant work harassment. The director requires staff to be in the office from 6 am to 11 pm daily. This situation is causing significant distress to the staff in this NGO.

The NGO does not provide salary slips; salaries are paid via cheque.

What can I do for all staff?

Thanks,
Manikyam

While empathizing with your situation, I would like to ask you a few questions in order to understand and enable a way out of your difficulties:

- How many months or years have you been associated with this NGO?
- Are you the one who is facing such a dilemma? If not, how many of them are currently enduring such pestering?
- Who is your immediate boss?
- Has this stalking (harassment) been continuous from the beginning?
- Is this harassment only targeted towards women employees?
- What is the ratio of women to men in this NGO?
- Essentially, what is the mission of this NGO?
- Were you provided with any documentation upon joining this NGO?
- What were the specified working hours when you joined?

Please respond to the above, and let our other seniors also ask their queries in case I've missed any other important questions to be addressed. Thank you!
