Understanding Karnataka's Shops and Commercial Establishments: How Do IT Employees Fit In?

Can anyone help me with the category in which employees of an IT firm would fall in the Shops and Commercial Establishment list of Karnataka, 2013-14? Is there a minimum basic pay defined? If there is a minimum basic pay, is it okay to rework on the other salary components so that the CTC would remain the same?

As per the Karnataka Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, there are minimum wages for all types of industries, and we should adhere to them. We must ensure that the basic wage is not lower than the minimum wages specified by the act. Other components should be adjusted accordingly.

In adjusting various components, remember that you cannot reduce the gross salary, and you cannot reduce the salary to pay for PF.
