New to HR? Seeking Your Advice on Creating an HR Manual and Employee Handbook

My name is Jayashri, and I have recently joined a software company. The management has asked me to prepare an HR Manual and Employee Handbook. I kindly request all of you to help me as this is my first assignment.

Before preparing the handbook and HR manual, frame out the policies. Based on the policies, only then will someone be in a position to prepare the HR manual or handbook.

You need to create HR policies first and also understand the legal angle to it. You need to prepare an org chart, which will help you understand the policy required. You could also seek help from external consultants to create them for you. Please feel free to contact me in case you need any help.

I would recommend that you proceed step by step to frame policies, get them approved by management, and implement them simultaneously. This approach will result in quick responses from both management and employees. Over time, you will have a complete HR manual and an employee handbook as well. Best of luck.
