Navigating Resignation While Onsite: Can I Use My Leave to Speed Up the Process?

Hi Everyone, I have been working in a private MNC for the past 2.5 years, and now I have been assigned to an onsite assignment in Sweden from the base office in Chennai for three weeks. I am currently in a situation where I have been admitted to graduate school to pursue my master's degree, and therefore, I need to submit my resignation papers two months from now. I am currently in the UAT testing phase, and it is evident that there has been no specific training or policy signed for my onsite assignment.

I also have 30 days of privileged leave in my account for the current year. In that case, will I be able to be relieved from the company within these two months by encashing my leaves in addition?

The notice period is for 2 months. Are you ready to serve it? Leave encashment will be calculated upon separation.

Knowledge Transfer After Onsite Assignment

If you have been sent onsite, how long would your knowledge transfer period be once you return? The reason to resign is genuine. However, please keep the documents from the college informing your admissions ready. You will need to present these during your separation.

Ethical Considerations for Resignation

It is not ethical to resign on-site, particularly if it puts the project life cycle at risk. My suggestion is to complete the current task of 3 weeks, return to Chennai, and then get relieved. However, you can tender the resignation request now so that the company can search for a replacement ASAP.
