Regarding Designing Training Modules On Leadership

ashima birmani
Dear Seniors,
I am doing my intern-ship in a manufacturing firm which has around 300 blue collar employees. I need to design training module on "Leadership" to impart training to some identified employees who would be transitioned into a supervisiory role.
Any help and pointers would be heartily acknowledged and appreciated.
Thanks,
Ashima

Please read the discussions at https://www.citehr.com/456194-leader...ml#post2045749 and it may give you some idea about the difficulties in what you have set out to do. As Dinesh V Divekar says in his post, you will get many consultant replying to your post offering their services. But those posts may not make you any wiser, unless you are prepared to spend some money.

Infact, what you want is some material on "What is the Role of a Supervisor?" Kindly take a look at MBA Course Knowledge Center: Role of Shop Floor Executive - First Line Supervisor or Executive found at Google

Many helps are available in the site.
But, Leadership, is more of values than training. It needs role modeling, we need to exhibit our Leadership throughout the training.

Hi Ashima,

Please remember one thing. Normally, when we train participants on Leadership, we tend to quote very prominant worldwide leaders in Politics, Armed Forces, Industry and so on.

However, please share with the participants that leadership process at the grassroot level or at the shop floor level. You should be able to impress upon that each one of those leaders mentioned above had certain qualities, which the participants should be able to identify and they should develop themselves over a period of time - such as taking initiative, taking risks, showing empathy, instead of showing how to do a job, doing it themselves and showing to team members, taking suggestions from everybody before deciding, similarly solving problems by sharing it other team members, walking the talk and so on.

There are excellent videos in Youtube on Leadership skills and team building, which should help them to understand the topic better.

Apart from this have a couple of games to bring out the meaning of leadership..

Best wishes

I will give a some leads on this.
Your should differentiate between a Supervisory Manager and a Supervisory Leader.
The former 'manages' the shift resources to the satisfaction of his/her superiors. Any lack of any resources - material or manpower - will be brought to the superiors for remedy.
The latter functions on the credo of 'know your job and know your men'. Therefore, a leader will use his motivating skills as a force multiplier to gap the lack of resources to get the optimum output.
Yesterday, I watched the IPL match between RCB and CSK. Till the last over, RCB had a upper hand. But the end result was a win for CSK. The RCB Captain - a good performer - was let down by his nerves shown by his fumbling in fielding. The CSK batters were motivated by their 'leader' and they won!
