Waiting 1.5 Years for an Appointment Letter: Should I Be Concerned?

sravan.hr
I have been working with a mid-level IT company as an HR Executive for 1.5 years. Still, I haven't received my appointment letter; in fact, our manager doesn't like to provide me with one. In my 1.5 years of service, I have also received a reasonable salary hike. They are very pleased with my performance and have provided me with all the necessary facilities. It's a very good and fast-growing company. Please advise me on this issue. I am waiting for your reply.

You have been working for 1.5 years and are still waiting for your appointment letter. Kindly let us know if you have received any job offer (before joining the company) or not. If yes, you must have returned a signed copy to them as well. How did you submit the signed offer letter, through email communication or hard copy? Also, please mention the mode of salary payment, is it through a bank account or in cash? Are salary slips being provided? This information will help us provide a more accurate response.

As of now, if you have returned a signed offer letter to the company via email, and you are receiving your salary through a bank account along with salary slips, you need not worry much. However, you should request your employer/HR Manager/any other relevant authority to issue you an appointment letter, emphasizing its importance such as the notice period clause or non-disclosure clause. Hopefully, the management will understand your concerns and issue you an appointment letter retroactively.

I am glad to have a reply from you. Actually, they sent me an offer confirmation through mail with a small mistake, labeling me as a Software Engineer instead of an HR Executive. I didn't reply to that; I joined directly. I only signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement. My salary is credited through the bank with pay slips every month on time. Even the PF facility is available. He is aware that I am familiar with all the terms and conditions of our company because I am the one who issues these documents to all employees. I have requested him many times for my documents, but he has politely denied. Can you please assist me in how I can politely ask him for my documents?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone who thinks that the absence of an appointment letter is going to keep a person with the company forever definitely needs a reality check. Well, there is nothing you can do about it, but the absence of the letter will make little difference. Keep the other documents, especially the salary slip.

I have been working with an IT product-based development company as an HR executive for 2.2 years. The functions I am involved in are furnished below:

1. End-to-end recruitment, including salary negotiations and background verification.
2. Joining formalities.
3. Performance evaluation.
4. Time management.
5. Administration activities.
6. Employee engagement activities.
7. Slightly involved in making policies.
8. Exit interviews.

However, I am not involved in Payroll. How can I be called an HR Generalist or HR Executive? My designation on the appointment letter is HR Executive. Please help me out with this.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Sravan.
