Online Work: Opportunities and Challenges
The shortcomings and bad experiences in the brick-and-mortar world are also present online, maybe even more so. Don't get lured into deals where someone asks you to pay for training, etc. You will lose your money instead of gaining any. But all is not bad. I have done and really earned through online work. It depends on who you are and what your capabilities are.
You may look at sites such as
freelancer.com,
oDesk,
Elance, and
studentoffortune.com. You can make money, but it's not as easy as it is made out to be. I have also had disputes with one person over payment, which ultimately was decreed in my favor by PayPal, and I got my money. There is competition here too; there is no free lunch anywhere. You also have to build up your competence, quality of output, reliability, communication, and effectiveness in dealing with them to meet overseas client expectations.
