New HR Executive Needs Guidance on Handling Employee Tax Filing Issue

raghavendra_br
Dear Seniors, I have recently (4 days ago) joined an organization as Executive HR. I have a problem like this: One of the employees joined in Jan '13. He has not submitted the previous employer tax details and also has not submitted the declaration forms. However, in Feb '13 salary, his income tax deduction was Rs. 7500. My predecessor has informed the employee that returns should be filed in March. But now, he is approaching me to resolve the issue. How can I assist him in this matter?

If the employee didn't provide you with the previous organization's income details, there's no need to worry. Calculate the tax based on the current income and deduct TDS. After April, issue the TDS certificate and let him file the return.

Can you tell me which return you want to submit in March? IT returns should be filed by employees only before the end of July.
