In Tamil Nadu, the Factories Inspectorate has been renamed as the DIRECTORATE OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AND HEALTH, as per GO Ms. No. 94 dated 7th March 2013. This is for your information.

Thanks for updating the members. Many states have already created Industrial Safety and Health as a separate wing to take care of the Building & Other Construction Workers (Regulations & Abolition) Act, 1996, and the rules made thereunder. I believe that this will be more meaningful and shall be beneficial to the construction workers, who still fall into the category of unorganized and exploited class.
