Hi all, I need help/information regarding the travel agreement/bond. I have been asked to travel overseas to work on a project. When the travel dates were fixed and all the arrangements were done, at the last moment (1 day before the travel), the company asked me to sign a bond. It states that the employee (in this case, me) is desirous of undergoing some training, and the company is spending XXX amount of money to provide the training. I am required to stick with the company for 1 year, or else I will have to repay the XXX amount to the company.
When I objected to signing the bond on these grounds, I was indirectly forced on the basis of my employment to sign it. Now, I want to know if it is legal for the company to require its employees to sign a bond, even if they are going overseas purely to support a project (with no training involved).
Can I get some information that I can use to challenge the management regarding this issue? Please advise.
