Registering for EPF with Just 2 Employees: What Documents Do We Need?

Kindly provide the details of the required documents list to register in EPF. The company has only 2 employees. It is a private limited company.

As per the PF Act, any organization with more than 20 employees is eligible to register under the EPF Scheme. Since you have only 2 employees currently, you need to wait for the employee strength to exceed 20. However, let me know if you need an EPF number for getting a contract or if it is made compulsory to fill a tender or so. In that case, I would advise you accordingly.

Dear Muthu ji, Your main query is about the documents required for registration with PF. The following documents need to be submitted to the EPFO along with an application for the allotment of a PF code number in the prescribed format:

Required Documents for PF Registration

(i) A form for the Allotment of EPFO Business Number, duly filled in.
(ii) A copy of the IT PAN Card.
(iii) A copy of the Shops & Estb. Registration Certificate.
(iv) A copy of Registration Certificates under Service Tax, VAT, CST.
(v) A copy of work orders (minimum 2 if you are a contractor).
(vi) Premises papers.
(vii) Balance sheet and P/L statement from the 1st year onwards.
(viii) Month-wise employment strength from the date of setup.
(ix) Details of employees as of the date.
(x) A copy of the Muster Roll and Salary Sheet for the last month.
(xi) A copy of PF working.
(xii) Any other papers as directed by EPFO.

Forms Required for Employee Registration

Form 9 has to be submitted for those two employees, and Forms 5 & 10 for every newly joined employee.
