If taken philosophically, your statement can be considered as Thought for The Day
But if the desire was to understand the role of HR or others during an interview, then there is a need to elaborate. As I see it, when you want to hire a person, you would want to hire somebody who would comfortably deliver without disrupting the normal work culture and values of the organization. Thus, whether you realise it or not, you look for a person who is more like you in terms of attitude and values. So to a third party your line of questioning may also reveal ‘who you are’. Why only in the case of recruitment, even when parents look for a bride for their son, they also look for the qualities in her( of course, in addition to the quantum of dowry) that are in conformity with their own values etc. Hence they also show ‘who they are’
So, it does not matter how you interpret the statement, it is true
