Navigating PT Registration in Gujarat: Do Multiple Branches Need Separate Registrations?

What is the procedure for the registration of a PT in Gujarat? If there are 5 branches (Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar) in Gujarat, can we register separately for each branch, or is only one registration enough? Please provide the details as soon as possible.

Recently, the Gujarat Professional Tax Department issued a letter to every organization regarding the registration of Professional Tax at every branch office we have around Gujarat. After obtaining Professional Tax registration, we can then obtain registration under the Gujarat Shops & Establishments Act.

Slab Rates for Professional Tax

The slab rates are as follows:

- **Due Date:** 15th of the subsequent month

I was having the same problem, as we have our branches spread in Gujarat, in line with your locations as well. I have made inquiries with friends and consultants and found that in Gujarat, the PT remittance shall be done at the Municipal Corporation or the Gram Panchayat. Only the Municipal Corporation and the Gram Panchayat have the right to collect professional tax.

Procedure for PT Registration in Gujarat

Coming to the point, if your offices fall into different municipal boundaries, you need to proceed for a separate PT number from the respective Municipal Corporation. Wherever the Municipal Corporation office doesn't exist, you need to obtain the PT number from the Gram Panchayat and do the remittance to them.
