Hello Ikjot Singh
For harmonious industrial relations, the existence of the following ingredients is essential.
1)HR should have proper understanding of it's role. Most HR harbour the view that they are the agents of the employers since he makes their pay cheques and hence their duty is to promte the interest of the employer. In the process they become partisan and run the risk of loosing the trust and confidence of the employees. They forget that it is the employees that enable the employer to amke every one's pay check.
2) The true position of HR is a bridge between the employees and the employer. It should also relaise that apart from these two stake holders, there is organisation. The HR shall align the interests of the employer and the employee with that of the organisation.
3) The HR shall be transparent in it's practices and at the same time retain confidentiality if the interest of the organisation demands.
4) It should redress grievance timely. A grievance that is not redreesed timely may assume the character of an industrial dispute, Therefore HR
shall have Grievance mechanism in place.
5) It shall hold intercative meetings with workmen/employees like the Town Hall Meeting. This will enable the mangement to feel the pulse of the employeesand take proactive and pre-emptive action
6)The HR shall convince the mangement to undertake employee welfare programmes. This will enable the HR to wiin the trust and the confidence of the employees which may come handy when HR is to convince employees to make or tone down tehir demands in the intrests of the organisation
These may be some factors that promote peaceful IR.
