Concerned About Wrong Name on PF Records? How Can My Friend Secure His Savings?

One of my friends has been working in the company for the last 5 years and is a member of the PF there. During the 3rd year of his service, his yearly PF slip began to show the wrong name instead of his correct name. The rest of the details, such as his PF number, PF contribution, etc., are correctly shown. His employer sent a letter to the RPFC's office to request the necessary rectification, but RPFC officials expressed their inability to make the correction in their records. RPFC officials stated that, to date, there is no provision for amending data in the system. This was confirmed by the Assistant Commissioner of RPFO. My friend is feeling insecure about his PF amount lying with the PF authorities. Please suggest what he should do to have a sense of security about his savings lying in his PF account, which shows an entirely wrong name of the owner.

Please take a Xerox copy of Form 9 (Register) and Form 2 (Declaration form), as well as Form 3 and Form 6, and go to the RPFC office. Meet the Section Superintendent, the Assistant Commissioner, and the Account Section, and explain the situation clearly. There are many possibilities to correct the Annual Statement in Form 23. Try, and you will get a good result.

At the time of PF withdrawal, you can produce an affidavit as well as a letter from your principal employer confirming your correct names. They will accept your request and approve your claim.

Mr. Alphonse is right. As per my concern, please take all the forms as guided above along with this letter format, edit it accordingly, and submit it to RPFC through your employer.

We also experienced the same issue with one of our employees. From the beginning, the name was wrongly displayed on his annual PF slip. We have written to the RPFC, Hyderabad, but the issue was not rectified. Kindly suggest.

Please submit proof of your correct name, such as your PAN Card, UID number, or Driving License, to your employer. Request them to forward this information to the RPFC, asking for necessary corrections to be made. If your request is not accommodated, you should register your grievance with the EPF online grievance cell. Include your mobile number to receive a Grievance Registration number for further communication with the PF authorities.
