Confused about calculating the number of days for EPF/ESIC - will include all Sundays?

Nirav Gandhi
Dear Preeti,
don't create confusion yourself what system do you use for salary preparation? first decide yourself.
as per the statement of Pawandarda if u r using 2nd Method then Sunday is not calculated in salary.

Section 1(5) EPF Act states "An establishment to which this Act applies shall continue to be governed by this Act notwithstanding that the number of persons employed therein at any time falls below twenty".
EPF Act once applicable will continue even when the number falls below prescribed limit.

if any person work 13 days you can take how many sundays are fall in the 13 days
for example total days 13 he has attended 1 to 13 days , you can take only sundays which are fallen between 1 & 13 (may be 2 or 1 ) so it can 13+1 or 2
you can,t take all sundays in the month as working days

If the employee is on monthly salary you pay salary only for the no of days worked and pay EPF & ESI accordingly. If 13th day is Saturday you need not pay for Sunday also if yours is a Factory because F A act do not provide for wages for weekly holiday. It provides for holiday only.If yours is a commercial establishment verify with Shop & comm est Act of your state. If that Act provide for weekly holiday with wages if the employee has worked for all the six days prior to weekly off then you have to pay for sunday also.
