Is Our Starting Salary for Factory Workers in Navi Mumbai Fair? Seeking Advice

Dear Seniors, I am a newly joined HR professional in a manufacturing company. My last experience was in recruitment. Our company falls under the Factory Act. Currently, we have 12 workers and 5 staff members. We pay Rs. 5500/- per month to each worker as a starting salary. Is this amount correct? Could you please advise on what should be the minimum wage for a worker?

Minimum wages for your establishment will be based on the nature of the manufacturing activity you conduct. So, please provide the nature of your product.

You are in Navi Mumbai, working at a manufacturing company. Navi Mumbai falls under Zone I, so the rates applicable in Zone I apply to you.

Understanding Applicable Wage Rates

For manufacturing, if your company does not fall under any of the scheduled industries listed among the 65, the rates of the factory (residuary) will be applicable to you. However, if your company falls under any of the scheduled industries, then the rates specific to that industry will be applicable to you. For example, if your company is an engineering unit, the rates for the engineering industry will apply to you.

I hope I have made this very clear. For your reference, I am attaching the revised minimum wage rates in Zone I for select industries, as calculated by me.

Appropriate Salary for Staff

I would like to know what the appropriate salary should be for our staff. We have an account manager who has been with us for two years, a purchase cum admin executive also with two years of experience, and I have recently joined the team.
