Notice Period Overlap: How Can I Resolve This HR Dispute with My Old Company?

Hi, my notice period is overlapping by 2 days. My last date of presence in my old company is July 4, and I join the new company on August 1, but the old company treated this as a notice period. HR is not ready to make that correction. How can I solve this?

You will have no choice but to request your new company to allow you two more days to join. You can also request your current company for an early release. It depends on your current company's rules, attitude, and your relationship with them.
