Understanding Haryana's Revised Minimum Wages: How Will This Affect Your Business?

In constant pursuit of spreading higher knowledge among HR professionals, I am happy to inform you that pursuant to the powers conferred in subsection (2) of section 5 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, the Governor of Haryana, after consultation with the State Minimum Wages Advisory Board, Haryana, and with reference to its notification No. 3/42/83-3 Lab dated 27/06/2007, the Labour Department of the Haryana Government has fixed the minimum rate of wages (all-inclusive) in respect of different scheduled employments (except Brick Kilns) as mentioned in the schedule effective from 01/07/2007.

The minimum wage rates are attached to the Consumer Price Index and are adjusted from time to time based on increases or decreases in index prices on a periodical basis, generally monthly. The Index Prices at the end of the half-year and in the month of June 2012 were 1743 points. As of the end of the year and in December 2012, these points have increased by 106 points from the previous level in June 2012, now totaling 1849 points.

Pursuant to the provision stipulated in section 5(2) of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, the minimum wage rate for all scheduled employments has been increased by Rs. 244.86 on a monthly basis and Rs. 9.42 on a daily basis, effective from 01/01/2013.

Revised Minimum Wage Rates

Hence, the revised minimum wage rates in the scheduled employments in Haryana State, effective from 01/01/2013, are as follows:

- Unskilled workers: Rs. 5212.15 monthly or Rs. 200.46 daily
- Semi-skilled worker (A): Rs. 5342.15 monthly or Rs. 205.46 daily
- Semi-skilled Worker (B): Rs. 5472.15 monthly or Rs. 210.46 daily
- Skilled Worker (A): Rs. 5602.15 monthly or Rs. 215.46 daily
- Skilled worker (B): Rs. 5732.15 monthly or Rs. 220.46 daily
- Highly Skilled worker: Rs. 5862.15 monthly or Rs. 225.46 daily

You are requested to kindly take appropriate action to implement the revised minimum wage rates effective from 01/01/2013 in the Factories and Establishments operating in Haryana State. Please disregard if your establishment is not within the territorial jurisdiction of Haryana State. A copy of the notification will be provided to you shortly.

It is true without any doubt. Attached is the notification of the department. These rates are applicable w.e.f 01.01.2013 in all scheduled employment in Haryana State.
