Please closely engage with your employees to understand their feelings about the company. Based on their feedback, please plan accordingly. In the meantime, take a look at the following:

1. Do you have all the required documents for the HR Department, such as joining documents, leave cards, leave application ID cards, uniforms, punching machines, or registers?

2. Have you ensured that your employees' ESIC and PF details are up to date?

3. Do you possess all the necessary licenses?

Thank you.

Thank you all for the replies. The number of employees so far is 18. It's a recent startup in Hyderabad. We maintain employee documents, handle recruitment, issue offer letters, send welcome emails, manage attendance and leave, and draft salaries. As it is a startup, I am currently focusing on these aspects only. However, as time passes, I plan to implement Performance Management Systems (PMS) and Learning & Development (L&D) activities.

Additional HR Activities for Startups

Apart from these, what else can I, as an HR professional, be involved in? Please guide me as I want to do something different that can benefit my staff here.

Thanks & Regards,
Nandini Sutrave

If you are following HR activities such as recruitment, joining, and so on, you have to maintain some of the statutory registers such as PF/ESI/Gratuity and others. If you need any help free of cost, you can contact me, and I will guide you for the smooth running of the operation.

You can include any inspirational or motivational thought, a knowledge session on the weekend, or a trip at the end of the month. This will also make the employees more satisfied and productive.

Hi Mahavir Singh, that's a great suggestion. Short trips might be a little budget-constrained, but a knowledge-sharing session is a good idea. Anything else?
