The retirement age is 58 as per the provisions of the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946. The age of retirement or superannuation of a workman shall be as agreed upon between the employer and the workman under an agreement or as specified in a settlement or award that is binding on both the workman and the employer. Where there is no agreed age, retirement or superannuation shall be upon the completion of 58 years of age by the workman.

Recently, in Haryana State, it has been extended to 60 years, which has been challenged by some Industrial Associations. The matter is now required to be decided by the Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh. A copy of the notification is attached.

Regards
