What Happens If an Employee Dies Before Submitting ESI Forms? Legal Coverage Explained

RSUDHAAKAR1
I would like to get clarification on the following: If, suppose, an employee is under ESI, he reports to duty for the first day, and in case, even before he fills the ESI forms, he meets with an accident and dies in the office. What is the legal and statutory coverage he will be getting?

In case the employee had died after filling it and before the same was submitted to ESI officials by the employer, does he have any statutory protection?

An employee is covered only if they receive an IP number. Therefore, if they pass away before filling out the ESI form, they are not eligible for ESI coverage. However, if they have filled out the form and obtained an IP number, both they and their dependents are entitled to receive coverage and benefits.

Thanks

Yes, theoretically, you can claim benefits under ESIC. Please approach ESIC for help.
