Dear Ms. Reema,

If you have some good material on competency (and if it doesn't violate copyright), why don't you share it with everybody on citehr? Please... It will be a great help to everybody.

You can read "Competence at Work" by Spencer & Spencer. This is probably the best book on competency mapping and is used by major consultancies to implement the competency model.

Let me know in case you have any questions.

Hey Reema,

What is this? Please give me your email ID so I can send it to you. 😢 Share it here so that everyone can see and have it. Otherwise, there will be a long series of messages and emails to you, Reemaji, please send it to this email ID. 😄 I also request all friends that if they have something good to share, please share it here on the forum so everyone can have access to it.

Hi all,

I am doing research on CM and found the following books very helpful:

"The Handbook of Competency Mapping" by Seema Sanghi (Response Books - Sage)

"The Competencies Handbook" by Steve Whiddett & Sarah Hollyforde (Jaico Books)

"Competency & the Learning Organization" by Donald Shandler (Viva)

"Competency Based HRM" by Ganesh Sherman (TMH).

Hope it helps you, too.

Hi,

There are a few good books on competency mapping. I suggest you refer to "Competency Mapping Guide" by Ganesh Shermon. Alternatively, you can also look into Spencer & Spencer. The former is more useful!

Hope this helps. All the best!

Prachi.

Hey everyone,

Reema has sent her copy on 12th September. Please check the attachment on citehr.

Dear Reema, please shed some light on how to proceed with competency mapping. My company has about 100 employees (70 in sales, including Sales Head, Commercial Head, Accounts Head, MD, and other staff of 30). How can we conduct competency mapping for the sales, commercial, and accounts teams, as these are the most crucial teams? What should be the procedure and which questionnaires should we use? If you have any questionnaire formats for surveys, please send them. Also, guide me on my query.

Some of the good books on competency are: "Competent Manager" by Boyatzis (historically the first such book), an article by David Macellend called "Measuring Competency, Not Intelligence," and a later book by Spencer and Spencer called "Competency at Work."

Hi Manish, Greetings!

I have this e-book on Competency Management that I downloaded from the CiteHR forum only. It is a good book, and I learned quite a few things from it. Hope it comes in handy for you.
