Is Deducting Half a Day's Salary for Late Arrivals Legal Under the Payment of Wages Act?

stephen_7
As per our factory policy, 3 late arrivals and 2 permissions are allowed per month. If workers exceed this limit, how much should we deduct according to the Payment of Wages Act 1936?

As per the factory policy, we are required to deduct half a day's salary. However, is this legally correct? We are only following the TN Model Standing Order.

Please provide clarification. Thanks in advance.

Deducting half of wages for being half an hour late is not correct.

As per our standing order, we allow 100 minutes of lateness per month. If the lateness exceeds 100 minutes, for example, if it is 120 minutes in a month, we deduct 200 minutes from the employee's basic wage. Please clarify, is this correct as per the law?
