Factors to Consider for Career Decisions
First, list down a plethora of factors contributing to your situation, such as:
- A career in your area of specialization in any industry
- A career in any field related to your graduation subject
- Any profile in a renowned brand name
- Strong profile in a reputable brand name, etc.
Having listed down such factors, put each factor in a PROS or CONS column and start analyzing their weightage according to your expectations. Eventually, you will realize your objective in life, which will, in turn, lead you to start working towards it.
Advice on Career Path
Also, I would advise you to go with the same profile you had applied for (i.e., HR) as you had mastered that subject during your post-graduation and it is fresh in your mind. However, it is up to you to decide whether at this time, as a fresher, you want a strong profile or a brand name, as you might not get both simultaneously. But if you choose your profile over the brand name today and stick to it for the long term until you have even better options, you may end up working in "your preferred brand" in the same specialization of yours (i.e., HR) at a better designation with greater responsibilities. By then, you would have gained some extra certifications and improved your skills.
Considerations for Accepting a Job
In case you accept the front office job today in any hotel, there is an equal possibility that you may or may not be eligible for HR vacancies in the same organization in the future due to some internal policies that might not favor your experience background. As a result, you may not be willing to continue and risk spoiling your preferred field and experience.
Please be extra cautious when taking any step forward as you have just finished your post-graduation and are quite new to the corporate industry. Therefore, you will be stepping in as a fresher, so any wrong move may result in disappointment.
All the best!
Thanks,
