I recently joined a manufacturing company. It is an SSI with approximately 20 crore business. The practice here is that they are not maintaining a muster roll. When I asked the employer if it is mandatory as per law, he said all our workers are on a contract basis, then the contractor should prepare the muster (okay up to this), but all staff are on the company roll even though the employer is not allowed to prepare the muster roll.
Please suggest to me what I should do in this respect. Last month, a labor inspector visited our premises, and he also queried the same.
