How Important Are Medical Tests in Hiring? Concerns About Past Health Issues

I wanted to know how critical the medical test is in the selection process. My cousin has a past medical history of tuberculosis (1st stage), and now he is perfectly alright. Does this history affect the chances of getting hired by premier companies like Infy, Reliance, Wipro, etc.? Please explain in detail how critical the medical test is in the selection process.
