dear,
please tell me how to calculate the radiation range during the radiography of any material in construction of power plant.

Hi,
Please refer the followin thread.
There are few attachments uploaded.
You may refer them.
Still you need any more information, let us know we shall help.

Dear Abhi,
Let me tell on the off-set, that there is no thumb-rule on calculating the raditions when engaged in radiography in construction. BARC is the only agency that decides, the strength, the emissions strength and the radius of affectation. The agency that is involved in conducting the radiography, is given a license, dosimeter, a table with the specific criteria of the radioactive substance used in the camera, alongwith the strength of substance and the distance the radiation covers. This information can only be given by BARC and no other authority is authorized to handle or conclude on this topic. So, please refer to your agent's documents, and you will find the table that will exhibit the details of isotope and the precautions that are to be taken.

Dear SVB Tarak,
Thanks for the reply.
You are absolutely correct.
There are dosimeters to find the radius beyond which the enttry should be restricted.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Mr.Sudhir,
Excuse me for the correction. The dosimeter will only give the amount of exposure a person has been subjected to. The entry restriction will be given in the Chart for that particular isotope. The chart will depict the strength of the isotope and its related area of affectation. The dosimeter has to be returned to the BARC at specific intervals to ensure that amount of radiation the operator of the camera has been exposed to. Accordingly, BARC doctor shall prescribe whether the operator of the camera is fit for normal work, or he will be prescribed for a certain period of rest and diet. All matters related to entry and restriction in the area where the isotope is being used has to be infered from the Chart held by the operator and authorized by BARC.

You are always welcome, Mr.Sudhir. It is my pleasure to share what I know. I believe that knowledge increases multifold when it is shared.

Dear Vitak,
Thanks for sharing the info with us. Today i learned something new from you.
Actually in my previous company one of my senior manager having a diploma in radiation safety from US university, but i missed the chance to learn something on this topic while i working with him.

Dear Raghu,
Please look at the thread as per the link given by me.
In fact I came across the Radiology when we had ordered one big pressure vessel to one of our suppliers.
They used to conduct the radiography in Night and was of most concern to that company as regards to safety.
Later when I started looking after Safety I studied a bit.
Mr. Vitak's post helped to revise me on that subject.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir
