Effective Self-Introduction Tips

You could say, "Hi, my name is __________." You could go further and add some details about yourself, depending on who you are introducing yourself to.

If you are at work, for instance, you might want to mention your job title or who your boss is. If you are in college, you might tell your major. If the person you are introducing yourself to already knows someone that you know, you could say, "I'm a friend of __________" or "You know my brother ________."

Additionally, talk about your studies, family background, and achievements you have experienced with the last company. Also, mention the type of company you are looking to work for.

Hi, my points are from an interview perspective. As for me, first, tell your name, your current major (PG), the institution with the aggregate percentage, then UG with aggregate, then schooling and percent. Then, go for the hobbies. Next, start with the achievements and credentials that make you unique. After that, talk about your parents and their occupation, followed by information about your siblings.

If the interviewer asks about strengths, then mention your strengths and share a practical life experience where you achieved success based on your strengths.

The introduction should be brief and to the point. Unless asked, we should not elaborate on the introduction because, all said and done, your CV will do most of the talking. Basically, the interviewers will be more interested in the successful assignments done by the candidates. Hence, while introducing yourself, highlight more of your accomplishments and skills than your personal background. And while introducing, don't forget to add your role play in how helpful for the organization you intend to join.

Your introduction should start with your name, the place you are from, and the position you are applying for. Following that, you should mention something like, "In addition to the other details in my CV, I would like to highlight (list your key qualities that are valuable and attractive to the interviewer briefly)." This is your opportunity to showcase your qualities, experience, and the key aspects of the job in a polite and concise manner, especially for those with experience, to present before the Board of Interviewers/Selectors. Why not make the most of this chance?

Making a Strong First Impression in Interviews

We all know that the first few minutes are crucial for making a vital impression on listeners, especially in an interview. So, we have to make the most of it.

1. Start with a greeting, like "Good Morning" or "Hello, everyone," depending on whom you are speaking to.

2. Introduce yourself with pride, saying "I am [your name]" or "My name is [your name]." Never say "Myself so and so."

3. Speak about your academic qualifications. For example, "I have completed my Bachelor's Degree in [specific field] from [name of the university, optional]." If you have achieved a First-class or distinction, please mention it. If you have higher academic achievements after your bachelor's, then mention them.

4. Now speak about your technical skills. If you have any special skills, awards, or certifications, mention them.

5. If you have work experience, draft a career summary and mention it here.

6. Any projects or special assignments you are proud of, please mention them here.

7. You could now state your objective or your goal.

8. Strengths and weaknesses (in a diplomatic way) can be mentioned.

9. Most companies do not expect or encourage too much personal information.

10. Thank them politely and end the conversation gracefully. (Be ready for questions).

Along with this, clean dressing, composed gestures, and a pleasant smile will work wonders.

I am rather intrigued by the question raised, without giving a context, and the responses given. My experience of going to interviews in India over 50 years ago, and in the UK over 30 years ago, is that I had to introduce myself by just stating who I was. So, I searched the web for "How does one introduce oneself when going for a job interview in the UK?" and found some answers at the following sites.

- [How Will I Give My Introduction To The Interview Board?](http://www.blurtit.com/q677439.html) Clearly states "In your introduction, you simply want to firstly introduce yourself and let them know your name."
- [How do you introduce myself as a teacher in an interview](http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_introduce_myself_as_a_teacher_in_interv iew)
- [Interview Skills](http://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/intervw.htm)

The material I found confirms my experience.
