ESI Card Validity

Hi All,
could you please let me know that Is ESI card valid after leaving the organization and will it be valid after not contribute in ESI scheme. as if some one getting 14.5k and after increment he will get 18k then his contribution towards ESI will zero, in this condition Will he can get ESI card benefit or Not?

The benefit is based on contribution period like
Contribution Period Cash Benefit Period
1st April to 30th Sept. 1st January of the following year to 30th June.
1st Oct. to 31st March 1st July to 31st December of the year following
