How Do You Calculate Half-Days and Work Hours in a 9-Hour Workday? Seeking Advice for My Software Company

I would need guidance on two things:

Calculating Half-Days

1. How to calculate half-days.

Employee Work Hours for Half-Days

2. If an employee applies for a half-day, how much time should he/she be working? Our work hours are 9 hours. I want this information for my software company.

Why can't you allow a full day off if the employee is not requesting it frequently?

Calculation of a Half Day

A half day is calculated as the gross salary divided by the number of days in the month, multiplied by the number of working days (e.g., 29.5).

Timings for Half Days

The timings for half days are typically 4 hours, which is half of the total effective working hours.

I have not counted any half-days anytime. Some people have taken 5-6 half-days, but I have not considered any of those as leave. However, this is going overboard, so I just want to set a limit to it.

Also, I do not want to treat half-days like factory or bank timings, dividing them by the total number of hours. Last year, in cases where there were many instances of half-days, if anybody completed less than 6 hours of work, I counted it as a half-day, but only in situations where frequent occurrences like this were observed.

Hi, that's what I am saying: if employees are not frequently requesting half-days off, keep it as a full day. If employees are taking more half-days off, give them oral warnings initially, followed by a notice. If the behavior continues, issue a warning letter. Do not allow those employees who are taking more than one half-day off in a month.

Thank you.
