Struggling with Job Rejections: Can You Help Me Improve My Resume?

Dear seniors, I am attaching my resume. Kindly reply with your suggestions on the changes that need to be made to it. Every time I apply for a job, it gets rejected. Why? Where is the fault? I am unable to understand. Kindly help me.

Hi, Please don't take me wrong, but since you wanted to know the issues with your CV, here is a critical review of it:

- Blunders of all - RESUME (never write on top Resume/CV or anything like that. It is supposed to be your resume; don't title it)
- Change your career objective section. It has grammatical errors. Please ask a proofreader or a few of your friends to frame it for you.
- Your experience section - HR/Admin Exec.... Your Job Profile - HR Exec (do not match, please write the same designation at both places, and write the one communicated to you on your appointment letter)
- Time period... From Jan 2012 to till now... (it sounds too basic. When you've written you have good communication skills, have it present here. Put your time period - Jan 2012 till present)
- Job responsibilities: Please give proper indentation or use a table facility for that instead. Please use bullet points; no one has time to go through an essay
- Your CV fails to mention any extracurricular activities and achievements.
- No communication details (address / phone no / mail id, I don't know if this is the CV you forward, or you edited it because you're posting it publicly, but please ensure you give your mail id & cell no at least so that a recruiter can reach you)

A big thanks for your reply. First of all, you are right. I have removed my communication details because I was posting it on Cite HR. I have never seen a single resume of anyone until now where it is not titled as Resume/CV, that's why I also wrote the same. Thank you again. I will surely make the changes as suggested by you.

I have one more doubt; please clear it. The brand for which our company is producing products is different, and the website is with the brand name of the company. So, I am confused about whether I should mention the company name or the brand name on my resume.

About titling your CV, yes, it is a common mistake. However, if you read the Do's and Don'ts of CV writing, this is the first no-no. I myself had titled it as "Resume" and then "Curriculum Vitae" when I was pursuing my graduation. Later, I got to know the Do's and Don'ts, so I restructured and removed the title. It's not your fault; it's a misconception, but better late than never.

Co's Name & Website Name Differs:

It happens very often. The company is registered under one name but is well known by its brand, service, or website name.

In such a case, you can put your website name (which sounds more familiar and identifiable) and put into brackets the company name by which it is registered.

For example, Company's Name: XYZ (brand of PQR Co).

That way, if you've received your offer/appointment letter from PQR Co, you can show that you're not hiding anything. Also, ensure that your offer/appointment letter bears the name or has a link to the website to prove your point.
