No, unless she gets a job, she can continue, but I would suggest being more proactive in looking for IT-related jobs. If she doesn't get something really grounding in IT companies in, say, 4-6 months' time, ask her to switch to some other IT-related roles like coaching IT-related subjects in IT classes which are reputed. That would actually be counted as relevant experience when she switches, as she was doing IT-related jobs. She can start with a smaller firm...
