Understanding Attrition in Organizations

Please guide us regarding the attrition of any organization. What is attrition, and how can it be calculated monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly according to HR Policy?

As the definition is indicative, one can simply find out the numbers leaving on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis in absolute terms. However, there is something called the attrition rate, which is naturally different.

Dear Mr. Kashinath and Appalanaidu, a) Average number of employees during the year. b) Average number of employees leaving during the year. c) Divide b by a and arrive at the percentage. This is the average attrition during the year.

A detailed working was presented in the same forum almost a year ago, and this was deliberated at length. Please search for it, and you will find the same.
