Am I Eligible For Tax Deduction On Medical Bill

Srishuk
Hi,
Reg: Eligible for Tax Deduction on Medical Bill
I am a public sector employee, suffering from renal hypertension due to acute chronic critical Kidney disease(critical illness) and undergoing C.A.P.Dialysis from 2010.
My monthly medical expenditure is around Rs. 40,000/- which is being reimbursed by the employer and my annual income is around 5lac.
My employer is deducting tax at source on bill which is more than Rs.15,000/- in an year.
So, am I eligible for tax deduction on medical bill, if so please suggest wide sections of income tax.
Which form to be submitted to the employer requesting for not to get the tax at source? if so please suggest.

Medical reimbursements do not attract tax provision. I don,t think you are liable to pay tax on reimbursements.

Dear Srishuk,
Generally medical reimbursement attracts Tax deduction for above Rs. 15000 per annum. Regarding expense on treatment of some chronic disease viz. Motor nuron disease, Rs. 40,000 to 60,000 will be exempted. Check whether your disease come under this category.
