Understanding Employer's PF Contribution: Where Is the INR 780 Minimum Mentioned in the Act?

SARASWATHI GOPAKUMAR
Dear HR Team, As per the PF Act, the minimum ceiling for the employer is INR 780, along with administration charges. I would like to know the specific section of the act where this is mentioned. I have reviewed The Employees' PF Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 (Act 19 of 1952).

Could you please assist me promptly by sending the relevant details via email or by contacting me at the following number:

PF contributions for both employees and employers shall be restricted to the ceiling limit. The ceiling limit for PF wages is Rs. 6,500. 12% on Rs. 6,500 is Rs. 780.

Clarification on PF Act Ceiling

The act defines the ceiling of Rs. 6,500/- with respect to coverage and not the contribution. If you calculate 12% of Rs. 6,500/-, it comes to Rs. 780/-.

Secondly, your understanding that Rs. 780/- is the ceiling and is inclusive of administrative charges is incorrect. Administrative charges are over and above Rs. 780/-.
