Is My Employer Withholding Provident Fund Contributions? Need Help Understanding My PF Account Discrepancy

Aasshi123
I was employed with my previous company from 2009 to June 2012. However, when I checked the balance in my PF account, it seems that the account is updated till March 2011. Does that mean my employer had not deposited the amount after that? Please help me.

As the PF has now become online, the department has updated the records until March 2011. Once they update the rest, you can get the exact amount.

First, clarify with your previous company's HR whether they have submitted the contribution on time. Only then will it reflect online once they update it.

Dear Ashish,

First, you will go to the PF office where the establishment is registered with PF code no. You will consult the PF office staff who are responsible for managing the company's PF accounts. They will inform you about the status of the PF amount, and based on that information, the PF authority will take action in accordance with the EPF Act of 1952.

It does not amount to what you've assumed. There are multiple ways of getting the details:

1. E-Passbook
2. Yearly Account Slip mentioning the contribution till date (but for 2012-13 you'll receive it in April 2013)
3. Online EPF Balance
4. Visiting the PF branch with which your company is associated.

The provident fund account slips are issued on an annual basis by the Office of the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner of the area. The financial year starts from April 1st of each year and ends on March 31st. In your case, you left the job in June 2012. The account slip for 2011-12 might have been received from the RPF Office by your ex-employer, which you can inquire about and collect. For April 2012 to June 2012, you will receive it in the coming year.

All presumptions and assumptions will not help you. Better check with your previous employer, either by letter, email, or in person, to know exactly what the actual position is. How did you come to know your account was updated only up to 3/11, through online on the PFO portal? By the way, what were you doing since June '12? Have you not transferred your old accumulation to the present employer? If not, better do it now to ensure continuity for EPF Pension, etc. Act fast, pal.

All the best,

The corrupted officials of the PF department do not update the data online, causing problems because their earnings end if the data is not up to date on the PF website.

Assuming your employer has deposited the PF contributions, if they have not filed their periodical returns, you will not find it credited to your account. Please confirm and obtain a copy of Form 3A for the lapse period you suspect. You will find the necessary information.
