Is It Fair for My Boss to Demand a Medical Certificate for a One-Day Leave?

My boss said if anybody takes a one-day leave, he/she has to provide a medical certificate. Is this authentic? How?

Providing a Medical Certificate for Minor Illnesses

How can a person provide a medical certificate for a plain headache or minor illness that only requires rest or stress relief? Normally, a medical certificate is required if the sick leave exceeds 3 days.
