Greetings for the day! I would like to seek your valuable suggestions on the following situation:

One of our company drivers took a competitor's company technician along with him to attend a breakdown without informing the concerned authority. This incident occurred on Sunday. When the driver's supervisor informed him that he needed to attend a breakdown, he took the recovery van and brought the competitor's technician along.

Should We Issue a Memo?

Should we issue a memo to the driver regarding the above incident? Additionally, please provide some ideas on what the subject of this memo should be.

If this is the first time it has happened, a counseling/warning session should suffice. Why escalate something that can be handled with minimum force?

Definitely, you can issue him a warning letter because this is an unauthorized act. No matter the reason your company driver took this action, if he has not obtained permission or informed any supervisory, administrative, or senior personnel from your technical team or department about bringing in this competitor technician, he deserves the necessary action from you.
