Navigating Job History on Your Resume: Should I Include Short Stints?

I have completed my MBA in Marketing (Batch 2010-2012). I secured a position in an MNC in the Timeshare Industry for Sales and Marketing in February 2012. I worked there for four months, but I did not find job satisfaction in that industry. I then transitioned to the Insurance Industry and have been working there since July 2012. Despite receiving only half the CTC compared to my previous company, I accepted this job. However, now I am struggling to perform as expected in this industry, and the company is pressuring me to resign. I am unsure of what to do.

Work Experience Dilemma

If I include my full work experience on my resume, the company may question why I left my previous jobs within four months each. It may not be easy for others to understand my reasons for leaving.

Could you please advise me on whether I should include my experience in my CV when searching for a new job?

It would be better if you don't showcase your experiences, as having a 4-4 months job will raise significant questions that you may struggle to answer. Furthermore, I suggest avoiding sales roles that require a lot of skills and performance discussions in sales. Instead, consider exploring opportunities in Purchase, Logistics, Export-Import, Product Management, Branding, and more. These areas are more aligned with your interests and strengths, and it is evident that you are not suited for a sales position.

It is also obvious that questions will arise regarding the gap after your MBA, portraying you as still being a fresher. You can explain this gap by stating that you were ill for 1-2 months and are now fully recovered and ready for a job like this.

Do not mention your four months of experience. If you wish to mention it, you should be able to manage the new interviewer's questions positively. If there is any verification or background check on your previous job, it will curtail your chances.

I would say, please check where the problem was in your last organization and where the problem is in your current organization. Maybe you had some shortcomings. Please try to improve on those. If you don't find anything wrong, please continue with the same company for at least 2-4 more months. If it's not possible, then leave and don't showcase your experience. Look for something as a fresher.
