Leave Policies Under Bombay Shops Act: Financial Year or Calendar Year Basis?

Respected Seniors, As per the Bombay Shops and Establishment Act, how are the leave policies created? Are they calculated based on a financial year or on the basis of a calendar year? Thank you.

I would like to gain better clarity on the topic of the "CALENDAR YEAR." How does it make a difference? What points should be considered when drafting a policy? For example, our current policy involves leave accrual starting in April, with any remaining balance being paid out in March. Based on the discussions above, are we potentially violating any laws? What is the best practice to ensure compliance with the law? I would appreciate any insights on this matter.

I think leave is calculated on a financial year basis in the Shop and Establishment Act and on a calendar year basis in the Factory Act.
